What is an apostle?
According to the 1st letter of Paul to the Corinthians, chapter 12, verses 27-30 the Apostle is first in the body of Christ. "Well, you are the body of Christ and each one is a part of that body. In the church God has put everything in the right place: first apostles, secondarily prophets, and, thirdly teachers. Then put those who do miracles, then you have the gift of healing or helping or leading or speaking in tongues. Not all are apostles or prophets or teachers. Not everyone has the gift of miracles, nor cure disease, or to speak in tongues or to explain what these languages mean. "
In Ephesians 4:11-12 says that it was Jesus who gave gifts to people. "It was He who gave gifts to people. He chose some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and others pastors and teachers of the church. He did this to prepare God's people for Christian service in order to build the body of Christ. "
Junia was an apostle in the etymological sense of the word, ie one sent. She was not the select group of 12 apostles
In Revelation 21:14 says:
The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
So we know that the twelve apostles is a different entourage. Even today there are thousands and millions of Christians of males and females who are apostles (sent). The official position of presiding church is unique to men. The Old and New Testameno speaks of elders of Israel and the Church. Women "shepherding" the church is pure heresy.
